dc.description.abstract | United States healthcare costs have been spiraling out of control for the last few decades. With no universal healthcare system in effect, more than forty seven million Americans lack health insurance and cannot afford even the most basic care. This thesis addresses the factors contributing to the rising cost of healthcare, the global context in which the U.S. ranks regarding system costs and outcome, and potential policy solutions to cap the cost and provide more affordable care. | |
