Texas State University-San Marcos, San Marcos, Texas.https://hdl.handle.net/10877/11615Is there considerable difference in the travel distance to ''the outdoors" from different neighborhoods in Austin, in terms of their relative levels of income, education and ethnicity? In this research study, we explore the distribution and composition of public lands in Central Texas. We develop an index of spatial accessibility to public outdoor wilderness areas from origins within the Austin urban areas to determine relative levels of accessibility to the outdoors from the urban core. We also seek to discover demographic characteristics of those with a high or low degree of spatial accessibility to the outdoors.Text50 pages1 file (.pdf)ensocial statusoutdoor recreationspatial accessibilityAustinTexasSpatial Accessibility to Public Outdoor Recreation Destinations from Austin, Texas, 2010Thesis
