Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas.https://hdl.handle.net/10877/6465This project is an analysis of multicultural instruction when incorporated into a beginner’s violin class of 15+ 4th and 5th grade students, meeting on a weekly basis. The study was divided into two units consisting of three lessons each for a total of six lessons. Unit one consisted of lessons covering proper instrument care and rehearsal procedure, parts of the violin, and technique. Unit two consisted of lessons covering open string notes, notes on the D string, and notes on the A string. After teaching each lesson and doing research on multicultural instruction, I wrote a journal describing strengths and areas for improvement of the lesson and specific ways I would make it a more multicultural experience and relevant for students.
