Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas.https://hdl.handle.net/10877/4720Vast amounts of research have been devoted to the field of electrically active polymers since the discovery of conductivity in polyacetylene. Most of this research has been geared towards p-doped EAPs due to their stability in the atmosphere. One problem encountered with these types of molecules is their insolubility. We have focused our research on the synthesis and characterization of soluble n-doping polymers containing thiophene and nitrogen herterocycles. Novel donor acceptor donor monomers were synthesized with various alkyl chains to induce solubility. These monomers were oxidatively polymerized and the resulting polymers were characterized and tested for conductivity.Text89 pages1 file (.pdf)enElectroactive polymersn-dopedp-dopedSolubleConducting polymersSemiconductor dopingSoluble N-doping polymersThesis
