Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas.https://hdl.handle.net/10877/5913Ethnoracial ideology is implicit and embedded in American cultural practices, often unconsciously framing social relations and inequalities as the "inevitable" or "natural order" of society. Rather than being framed as an explicit form of goals or intentions, ideology in this sense acts as the fundamental structure governing power relations that goes unimagined or unmentioned. In this thesis, I explain how the ethnoracial ideology of multiculturalism was manifested in the practices of a newsroom in Austin, TX. I also analyzed how the variously challenged or unwittingly reproduced various elements of these ideological practices.
