Method: The study uses San Marcos, Texas as a case study and focuses on the relationships between Texas State University, purpose-built off-campus student apartments, and the city. The study utilizes pillar questions which uses document analysis, structured interviews, and historical archival methods to collect data. Findings: Findings showed that many purpose-built student housing complexes do not follow all the regulations under the Texas Property Code. Students also encounter issues with their roommates, excessive charges, and lease durations.
