Abstract
The United States has promoted a research initiative recognized as Powerful Geography with the assistance of the National Center for Research in Geography Education and the Gilbert M. Grosvenor Center for Geographic Education to strengthen the role of geography in the preparation of teachers, students, and citizens. Consequently, several research projects have been developed through publications, workshops and academic events in several countries and the United States. Similarly, Mexico has also activated research and educational projects. Thus, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) between 2015 and 2018 updated the syllabi contained in the curriculum map of one of the baccalaureate sub-system recognized as Escue/a Nacional Preparatoria (ENP). This paper connects some aspects that are part of the Powerful Geography Initiative with the updated content process identified as UNAM-ENP.
