Research Enhancement Program Final Report
This project is a book-length interdisciplinary study of excrement in the late Middle Ages, focusing on historical, literary, and art historical texts, which address in some way the material and symbolic element of excrement. I also include a discussion of waste theory, a burgeoning field of studies. The REP allowed me to spend two months researching and writing in London, England. I visited the British Library as well as the slide library and Duke Humprey Library in Oxford where I was able to access medieval manuscripts for my project. The information I gained contributed enormously to my book.
