dc.description.abstractNicotine is a dangerous, addictive substance, especially for youth. According to the 2023 National Youth Tobacco Survey, 2.8 million youth currently used any tobacco product, and 2.1 million of those currently use e-cigarettes. 9 out of 10 youth use flavoured e-cigarettes. Tobacco and vape companies target youth with flavors like tropical twist, root beer float, and guava ice. A vape that contains 50 ML of nicotine is equal to 1,000 cigarettes (or 50 packs). 2 out of 3 youth who vape report seriously thinking about quitting. E-Cigarettes are toxic waste which can leak harmful chemicals into the environment. This Photovoice study asked youth to respond to the following questions: 1. How do tobacco products affect your daily life and well-being? 2. What does participation in the Say What! program mean to you? 3. What needs to be done to prevent youth from using tobacco products or be exposed to them? 4. As a leader of the Say What! movement, if you had all the resources, what would you do to address the issue of tobacco use in Texas?
